Viviendo en San Juan

San Juan View

Living in San Juan. It’s hurricane season, and it’s time for a break from the boat. We moved into a nice penthouse right at the entrance to Old Town San Juan. Feels good to get out and stretch a bit, but also nice to know that we’re turning the corner on hurricane season and will be out cruising again soon.

Condo life has a handful of comfort items that the boat doesn’t have. Get this, we’ve got a microwave for making popcorn in ninety seconds, a laundry machine which requires no quarters or hauling, and a freezer where we can store real luxuries like pre-cut frozen mango.

Ouest is pretty good friends with her Spanish tutor at this point. It’s so nice to have kids actually look forward to “school.”

There are still virtually no tourists in San Juan so we were surprised to find this fountain actually turned on. It’s been off for months.

The walk along the waterfront at the entrance to San Juan harbor is a pretty cool spot with the fort hovering overhead.

Such a strange time to be here. I definitely don’t miss having cruise ships lined up in the port, but it’s got to be brutal on the people that depend on that tourist dollar.

  1. Beautiful photos! Love the colors in the header photo and the iguana shot especially. It must be strange but nice being there during such a quiet time. Looks like a very nice condo!

    1. Yes we are enjoying the quietness more than we realized. Down season is a time to recharge, finish things up, and get ready for the rush of cruising season to return. We are in a good place for it.
