Some things never change. These should hold plants, but for now they just hold socks.
Ouest joined a swim team. She’s obviously a very strong swimmer, but it’s fun to see her improve as she gets technique instructions for the first time.
The pool is about five miles outside of town and sits atop a hill looking out across the valley. It’s really a beautiful spot. It’s also the only thing we have to venture outside of the city for.
The new couch was out in the garage for a couple nights. This is when we first discovered that we have some nighttime cat visitors. From this day forward there is a bowl of food and water put out in the garage every night for them. We sit in the living room and can watch them come and go. There are three of them that live in the field across the street. They are pretty friendly and come out each evening to eat the food the old lady from the shop next door puts under the fence for them. One of them even comes out purring and lets you pet her. I assume it’s because she feels safe that she can run away. They only come over to our house well after dark, and they run like hell if they spot you in the window.
Had some guys in to reseal the tile floors. Makes a huge difference on our dirty feet.
While they were busy down there, the kitchen was moved to the 2nd floor. By kitchen I mean the air fryer. We currently have no other means of preparing food of any sort. Baby steps. You can see the difference in sealed vs unsealed tiles between these pics. We liked the unsealed look, but you are just walking across clay all day. It’s an unsustainable mess.
Incorporating the power pole into the building’s artwork. You don’t usually see that kind of extra mile effort.

Hi, If you want to purchase some dishes, we went to a town nearby that has pottery outlets. I didn’t “need” anything, but, of course, sent home a box with some pretty bowls and a tiny lamp. Sorry I can’t remember the name of the town. Love your new home! Eager to see more photos. Cheers, Nancy
I suggest you get an induction burner (under $100 in the U.S.) to add to your kitchen. They are fantastic. They require pans with ferrous metal like most stainless or cast iron pans. If a magnet sticks to it, a pan will work. They heat the pan, not the burner and they cool down as fast as gas, unlike resistance burners. We got one and used it instead of a conventional electric stove until we got a stove with 4 induction burners.
What was the building with the bars on the windows, barbed wire on the roof and a rose bush out front?
Much noise at night?
It took me a minute to find that power pole. Extremely well camouflaged!
There’s a channel called “Effortless Swimming” on Youtube, I highly recommend it! The coach is amazing and shares technique, training, drills, etc.
I was a competitive swimmer all while growing up and in college. I wish I’d have had this when I was younger. His awesome explanations, and being able to see slow-motion underwater footage, with frame-by-frame commentary, is a game changer.
