Above Taiohae Bay

Giant manta rays are always around the boat here in Taioha’e Bay, but until the drone went up we didn’t have any idea just how many there really were. These guys will also let us swim with them, getting within a few feet, but because of the silty water (due to steep hills and lush vegetation washing in with near daily rains) it’s hard to get close enough for decent pictures.

Despite appearances, I still spend time working each day. The stock market opens at 4 a.m. here in Nuku Hiva, which is fine by me as it leaves the rest of the day wide open for island life. It also lands me on CNBC.

  1. 4:00 in the morning. Welcome to my world. This is why I started doing swing trades instead of day trades. Postman rays are look awesome. You’re so lucky to get to swim with them. I’ve done it several days here on Maui and they’re just incredible looking side of. Have a great time. Good morning please thank you so much

  2. Nice reads to both, Pat!

I haven’t seen mention of (scuba) diving with the Manta’s yet, but I’m sure the visibility has a lot to do with decision making. Those clear, caribbean like waters can’t be too far away. 🙂

    1. Hey Lucas, way too silty to waste tanks here. We have to change our watermaker filters almost every other run. Clear water coming up though.
