Agua Stink

Ouest and I took the bus to town today to visit the marine store. Basically what I do there, according to Ali, is buy stuff for projects that never get started, much less finished. And while there is some truth to that I’m determined to finish this project. If for no other reason than I really feel hillbilly having a big box with a toilet in it sitting out in our cockpit for the world to see.

In fact we’ve got a whole rash of projects lined up for this week. The big one, and it’s one that wasn’t even on the list two weeks ago, is to replace all the water lines in the boat. We’ve basically always had stinky water in the bathroom, but now it’s migrating to the kitchen, and while we could have ignored forever the bathroom water by just using the kitchen sink, that option has now been taken away and left us with no choice but to work. I’m thinking about draining the water tanks, replacing all the lines, then dumping a bunch of bleach along with the water into the tanks. I’ll run that through all the sinks, the shower, and the hot water heater, let it sit for a day, then drain the whole system again. Run fresh clean water through the whole boat a few more times and we should be good and clean again. At least that’s my plan for now.

My dad is coming down in a few days and he will now be saddled with a twenty pound compressor. Sucker. Tell me that thing isn’t going to look like a bomb going through the x-ray machines. If he makes it without getting arrested we should have refrigeration again in a week or so. With those projects done we may just be able to go sailing again sometime before the kids start school.

Of course Ouest won’t be going to school after the Mexican Olympic Gymnastics Team sees this video. Straight to training camp for her.
