Antelope Canyon

As per our usual style, we just rolled on up to the parking lot and expected to get off the bus and walk right in for a tour of famous Antelope Canyon. That’s apparently not how it happens around here. There were long lines, and the tours were booked up for hours. I had actually been hoping to pull up and walk right on in the canyons on our own, but that’s not how it happens around here either.

Anyway, we booked for later in the day and came back. It was a little overcast, so we didn’t get the sunlight filtering through the canyon shots, but it was still beautiful, and really fun. Hell, we even liked our guide.

There is no shortage of cool land formations caused by erosion around here.

  1. Sorry, Roland, but there are no birds allowed inside the FAIRY HOUSES! I mean, didn’t you notice I had to cut out the bird holes to make proper doors for the fairies? 🙂

  2. I’m so glad that you went to Antelope Canyon and enjoyed it so much! And you got some great pictures. I especially liked the one taken of your family framed in the canyon walls. I’ve read every one of your blogs since the beginning, and it’s time for me to thank you for sharing your lives so generously.

  3. We visited Lower Antelope last May and I was in awe. I took some fantastic photos but not as good as yours. It really is worth the trip, isn’t it?

    1. There were two tour companies on the same road – we went with Ken’s Tours right at the site. Tours leave every 20 minutes.

  4. Antelope Canyon was the highlight of our trip a few years ago. I hadn’t heard of it, but we stopped on a whim, and WOW – it was stunning. We recommend it to everyone who is traveling in the area.

  5. My wife grew up in Page and spent her younger years running through that country. Times were different then. Glen Canyon was a beautiful place that has been drowned by the Powell Reservoir. Watch out if you’re still in the area later this week. Even a small amount of rain can cause flash flood through those canyons.

  6. Your pictures always astound me. Your use of light and shadow and texture is quite unique. I’m surprised you aren’t marketing them. Seems like you’d be able to additionally fund your travel kitty. Besides, you have the most photogenic kids!

  7. Just wow! While I absolutely love your photos in Mexico, it’s great to see such beauty here in the U.S, too.
