Lowe single-handedly lowered the peak by three feet.

Okay, Coppers, just try and stop us now. So long, BUMFZLE. We picked up the new plates from friends in Bisbee, but the campground was full up, so we missed out on town and headed back north to another boondocking area.

There aren’t enough tacos in the world.

  1. Did I miss why your dropping the Bum tag? Money or stalking? That thing has been around for a while.

    1. We had expired tabs on our bus, knew it as we had transferred the plates to our ’65 Porsche for last summer’s road trip, thought we would get it straightened out eventually but the law got us within two hours of entering the U.S. from Mexico as Pat was speeding. $742 dollars later we are legal and no jail time (yet). $742 DOLLARS.

    1. Yes, especially around sunset when it hasn’t started to cool off too much yet and the rattlesnakes are out and about either hunting for food or an opportunity to breed. I saw an interesting clip on KPHO the other day of two male rattlers fighting over territory / breeding rights that a hiker captured with her cell phone while exploring in the Superstitions.

  2. I am going to guess the next adventure has you selling the bus before new tags are due.

Great pics, and tacos are, at minimum, served twice a week in my house. World’s most perfect food…

  3. Actually, the BUMFZLE plates are currently registered to our Porsche. Making the switch was too difficult to do with us not being at the DMV in person, so we just had them issue new plates.

  4. That last pic is, I think, jumping cholla. It’s extremely dangerous as the spines have barbs that stick like fish hooks. Looks pretty, but we got rid of ours when I had to pick some of a feral cat that lives with us. He wasn’t happy.

    1. Both of our kids have had run ins with that one. Lowe got it a couple of years ago in his thigh. And Ouest got it in the foot the other day in our friend’s backyard. That stuff is awful.

    1. The law is hot on our tail, isn’t it? 🙂 Yes, we got the e-mail, and our Patagonia fines are in the mail. Thank you. Now we just can’t afford food or clothes for the kids, so…

  5. “There aren’t enough tacos in the world.” Could that be on account you guys eat every one of ’em you see? I mean really! Just look at the pictures you took, you ate every taco for miles and miles!! Leave some for the rest of us will ya? 🙂

  6. Pat…did u get my email ?
U go to jail , Grammy gets Ali and the kids …that’s all I care about .. They even issued u an inmate number .

  7. As well as the cactus, keep an eye out for rattlers, they are out all ready this year…welcome to AZ

  8. Okay – I gotta admit – that pic of you guys in the chairs around the pile of rocks did make me think “These are our salad days” 🙂

    1. Thanks for adding that saying to my repertoire. I had to look it up. I’d never heard that, and thought maybe it came from some funny movie. 🙂

  9. I need tacos after all this. Any chance of your recipe Ali? I am pretty sure I have never had a taco- I know, I know! I have been studying all the pics carefully and have many of the ingredients in my fridge, I reckon, but what is the Bumfuzzle taco recipe pls pls?

    1. I make a simple homemade taco seasoning (1 lb of meat) 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/4 chili powder – sprinkle over ground beef while browning. Then the normal – lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese. And a bowl of refried beans.

  10. Semana de cultura aquí. Burnt 2/3 of the tortillas when I realised I was still wearing pyjamas at 5.45 pm and everything started at 6! But made it with two unburnt Bumfuzzle tacos and have now been asked to make MANY more for feria. These are tasty!!!!! Thank you so much Ali and family. X
