Boat For Sale

I’ve spent the past couple of days back down here in Mazatlan finalizing things with the boat. The engine is done. It runs great, sounds great, and looks great. There really isn’t a lot more to say about my time down here. I’ve just been getting everything cleaned up and ready to leave, setting things up with the broker, and moving to a different marina next door. Pretty uneventful.

Without further ado, here is the Bumfuzzle For Sale page. Yachtworld listing should be up in a day or two.

  1. We’re at Stone Island, but will buy you a Pizza and tell you that you are doing the right thing with the Travco. Karin and Joe 520-425

  2. The boat looks excellent and I also think it is a steal for a family that wants to go cruising right away!

  3. Incredible pictures and For Sale Page. Hope you negotiated a discount with your broker-your work sells itself! Love your site and God bless you and your family!

  4. Shame you couldn’t keep both the boat and the bus. You finally get the boat sorted and its gone……..the pix look great, someone will get a great deal. Curious to see where your first trip will be to, once you get the bus together. Have fun …….aloha Ron

    1. Better yet, the Bums should hunt down and re-purchase their old VW bus and the Great Race Porsche. Then they could have a whole fleet of vehicles. Lowe could drive the Porsche, Ouest the VW, Ali the Travco, and Pat in the boat. They would never have to see each other and could pay for maintenance on all four!

It would be like the American dream of a 5-bedroom house and two storage units. Except “minimalist” and “carefree.” Sorry, Ron, I had to. 😀

  5. boat looks great I’d add a few more pics especially one looking aft with the aft cabin door open so one can see the access to the cabin, helps explain the layout. Maybe a few of the side decks and bow deck area. The boat looks clean and ready to go..

  6. Pat, we talked years ago and still following you guys; when you sale the boat make sure you tell the buyer that they have to change the name! I sold my last boat McKenzie Elin II, I now sail McKenzie Elin III and McKenzie Elin II is still out there making for a bit of confusion!! Jaime

    1. You have to go through a whole ritual and appease Neptune, the God of the Sea when you change a boat name – tried it once without the ritual, and the boat never liked me, but did it on the next boat and we are golden.

  7. I know that you are starting a new chapter and life goes on, but it is still sad to see the boat go. She is gorgeous.

  8. I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t sell it in a day! Great photos & a lovely boat well kept up. Best wishes & loving your new adventure in life!

  9. You’re right. The boat has never looked better. Great pics as always.

I’ve always enjoyed the blog and will continue to, but I am sad that the sailing journey is over. Again, I’ll continue to enjoy the blog, but I’ll always hold out hope that you’ll return to sailing someday.

    Best wishes to the family.

  10. Thanks all. We’ve long lamented the state of the photos in boat ads. I’ve just never understood how someone could be trying to sell something costing tens, and more often hundreds of thousands of dollars, but yet they can’t spend two hours cleaning up the boat and taking some nice pictures. A tip for future boat sellers: If you are hopeless with a camera, then hire a photographer for what, maybe $200, to come and take some professional shots. No thumbs in the pictures, no underwear lying about, no ash trays on the table, and no beer can pyramids in the galley.

  11. So Pat thats what took all your time! …. removing the evidence of a last bachelor party before Ali saw it! Now the truth is out. Oh,I checked and you can bring the Travco out here without too many probs (apart from paying for petrol)so we may see you one day after all.
    Muzza.

  12. Kind of sad to see another Bum Fuzzle up for sale, but will be following your RV adventures:)

  13. Damn, it looks great inside and out and at that price even I want to buy it and start a new life in the tropics. I know nothing about boats and get seasick on anything less than a cruise ship. But that never stopped you two.

We’re planning on selling out and moving into our 32 ft RV this year but a boat seems a lot more exciting from my perspective. No doubt an RV can be very comfortable and practical with more travel opportunities but I’ve never seen one with a soulful teak interior like that.

  14. Hey! Much respect to you and your family for living such a righteous lifestyle. I must say you’ve done an amazing job on Bumfuzzle. She is such an amazing boat. I’ve been obsessing over your beautiful photos for the past few days. The price you’ve set will most definitely be drawing many customers. But somehow by the grace of God if she happens to still be for sale in 11 months, you can call me a proud new owner. Unless my girlfriend decides to quit her masters degree or somehow finishes early……hmmmmm
Great blog btw. Always a pleasure to see what kind of shenanigans you’re getting yourself into. Your photos and writing provide not only entertainment value, but inspiration as well. All the best in your future endeavors!
