Goodbye

Grammy said goodbye to the kids this morning and then the two of us hit the road. Everyone in La Paz likes to say it is a two hour drive to the Cabo airport, but it’s not. It’s two hours fifteen minutes if you drive with complete reckless abandon, two hours thirty minutes if you still drive crazy but stop passing cars on blind hills, and nearly three hours if you drive like a normal person and average seventy-five on the straight-aways. In other words, it’s a haul, and we won’t be doing that again.

Yesterday Ouest said, “Me keep Grammy.” Today she told me Grammy could stay with us. “Where will she sleep?” I asked. “With me,” she replied. Let’s just say Grammy will be missed.

This afternoon we found a list of things we were supposed to have gotten done while my mom was here. Among the things on that list was: SEND TACKTICK HOME. Crap. That’s what we have lists for. We were supposed to send our wind instrument home with her to be mailed back to Raymarine in the vague hope that someday we might receive it back and actually put our ridiculously expensive paperweight piece of electronics to work for us. Alas, no, we forgot, and we will continue to sail blissfully unaware of the wind speed.

  1. Bye, Grammy! 🙂 …. hello to the Fuzzlybums. Hope all is well. I am currently re configuring my Pan Am trip, wont be leaving any time soon, as the broken bones throughout my body are still healing, and my finances are still healing! But I still am determined to make it down, now it shall be Sans- Motorcycle. Sorry for the typos and such with my last comment.. I had a broken hand that was healing, and was still hard to work with.. much better now. Whats the next destination?
