Is Good

We’ve had a couple of fun days here in Sayulita. The rental house is great, just a couple of blocks from the center of town and the beach, and then of course there is that pool that Ouest loves so much. We’ve had nothing but good dinners everywhere we’ve gone, had ice cream for dessert every night, and generally indulged as much as we can.

Ouest is calling her cousin Lea, “Ali.” Close enough. She also holds hands with everyone in the family at least once as we walk through town. Everybody but Grandpa that is. She’s not so sure she can trust that guy.

Lowe is nothing but sugar and sweet to everybody. Despite the apparent teething issues causing sleep deprivation.

As for Sayulita itself, it is a total mess. Word is that the President, or some high-ranking so-and-so, is coming for a visit soon. To get ready the town has decided that it needs all new sidewalks. All of them. All at once. Meaning all walking has to be done on the already too narrow streets. Fine when you don’t have a rambunctious two-year-old, not so great otherwise. Not to mention, aren’t new sidewalks the final nail in the coffin to any “authentic” Mexican town. I love Sayulita, but so does every other gringo that ever came here. With the new sidewalks I predict an influx of the orthropedic shoe wearing gringos and an end to Sayulita as we’ve come to know it.
