Swim competition weekend. This two-day competition was for 18 and up, including seniors, but they let Ouest (16) and a couple other teammates in because they had just recently posted good times at another event.
Ouest’s friend, Harlow, showed up ready to support.
Day one was a great one. Three wins in three races. I was shooting video, but we did manage to get pics of the finish lines.
Long day with a ton of races. Fun day out, though.
Nothing better than a strong start for day two races.
She wasn’t expecting any medals. Because of her age she wasn’t supposed to be included in the medal standings, but somehow her coach convinced the officials that her times deserved to be counted. That was really nice of him to push for her. It means a lot to get that medal around your neck.
Zazu waiting patiently for the dog walker. Thank goodness he is always right on time, because Za’s internal clock knows it’s time to go. Later in the afternoon it’s our turn to walk her. Around 4:00 she’ll walk in the room and start nudging your leg and then sit on your foot. She can’t be ignored.
Got another flat one night when I took Ouest to swim. Ali had to come pick us up and I left the bike in the parking lot. The next day I picked up a bike mechanic and took him out there. We arrived and the parking lot was empty. Bike is gone. There’s nobody in sight. I wander around the outside of the buildings looking for it and don’t see it anywhere. Did someone seriously steal that thing? It’s a gated property outside of town. Seems an odd place to steal a cheap bike from. Finally, I stumble upon a few workers having lunch in a garage and they light up when they see me. One of them jumps up and leads me to the outdoor pool’s “pool house.” I could not surmise why in the world they felt it necessary to wheel it in there, but it seems that they’d done it as a favor to me. Five minutes later the mechanic had the tire fixed and was driving it back to town. Problem solved.
Talent Show night at school. For nearly three weeks all schoolwork was put on hold and all attention turned to preparing for this night. I gotta say, they really did good. It was a fun show.
Lowe and his friends did an old Jerry Lewis sketch. He also had to do a dance with his whole class. Conveniently, he was in the back row and was the last on stage and the first to go off stage.
Ouest’s friends did a murder/mystery that stretched over a couple of scenes throughout the night. She was also in a class dance, and played in a band.
Ouest has been taking piano lessons this year, so it was awesome to hear her rock out The Beatles’ Let It Be.
Some pics we purchased from the photographer on duty that night.
Kids gotta slip in a 6-7.
