Out to Buck

Bumfuzzle Buck Island

We’ve been heading out to Buck Island pretty regularly lately, going out there early in the morning before the tours arrive, doing some snorkeling, hiking a bit, barbecuing, lazing on the beach, then heading back to our Christiansted anchorage in the afternoon (Buck Island is closed at 4). It’s funny how peaceful the place is for us, even though the main beach is packed full of people by noon. There are all sorts of spots to wander off and pretend it’s our own island.

I don’t know why, but it always seems weird to see pelicans in trees.

The cops letting everyone know what time it is. At four on the nose every single boat is on their way home.

Our anchorage in Christiansted is another place that feels a bit like our own. There are rarely any boats out here with us. They all opt to squeeze in together close to land on the other side of the shipping channel.

  2. Pretty sure the Governor has lifted the beach closing restrictions as of this week.
Buck Island is a huge asset to the STX boating community.
