Punta Mita Gray

A quiet gray day in Punta Mita.

I suppose I should mention what’s going on with Raymarine. They got back to me eventually after I raised a fuss on Twitter. The Marketing Manager gave Tech Support a kick in the butt and they gave me a couple of things to try, neither of which did any good. On e-mail three they said, “Send it to us.” As if it were just that easy.

So I got back to them asking if there was anything else we could try and letting them know shipping the unit to them wasn’t going to be as simple as driving to the post office back in the States. Then I never heard from them again.

Eventually I fired off an e-mail to the higher up who had made the mistake of giving me his e-mail address. I expressed my unhappiness with my support experience and he immediately agreed to send me a new part. Ali’s parents are coming down in a couple of weeks so they’ll bring it with them. Anyway, not a great experience with Tech Support at Raymarine, but they do seem happy to make things right in the end, and I guess that’s enough for me—for now. Hopefully this new hull transmitter does the trick, because cruising with no wind or depth instruments sucks.
