Dogs, cats, and kids. Not much new around Sayulita.

Spotted this and realized I’ve now reached the pinnacle of success. Van camper? Check. Surfboard? Check. Shampoo bottle on the windshield wiper? Check. Live on the Margin on the dashboard? Check yeah.

As parents we are willing to overlook mediocre food if the restaurant has an outdoor play area for the kids. Even if it isn’t technically for kids.

Hey, look who’s here. And she brought the Portland weather with her. Two straight days of rain here in December is some kind of craziness.

Dec11-5

We’re upping our game this visit and traveling around town in style.

Dec11-6

On a dreary, rain-soaked day, Sayulita’s beach is not the most picturesque place.

Dec11-7

The one-lane road along the beach to the hotel washed out in the rain and was closed all day which required us to follow a back road through the jungle that was a soupy mess and took about fifteen minutes to navigate. Fifteen minutes was too long for this little guy. Put this kid next to his mama on pretty much any form of transportation and this is what you get.

Sayulita has a pretty amazing pizza scene—especially by horrendous Mexican pizza standards.

This cat belongs to the owners of the campground. There is no reason for him (her?) to be in our bus all day and night. Especially as I’m allergic to cats!

Your being allergic to cats is all the motivation any cat worth their salt needs to spend his/her time in your bus. Trust me … they know.

    1. I agree, in some cases you may just be allergic to cats that NEVER go outside, as my son is. I don’t know what it is, but my husband thinks it’s because a cat that goes outside, lets the stink blow off him.

  2. Seems to me that your mom got outta town just in time and left the lions share of the weather behind her. Lovely to see her with her grands and you. We, on the other hand are dealing with an onslaught of weather that most would not welcome. We live in Yachats and call it sport! Sorry that we missed you when you traveled south on the Oregon Coast.

  3. Seeing something you have created out in the wild…randomly. This is one of the best feelings. Loved the book as well.

    Congrats.

  4. Oh man! You sure are making us miss it there! But we got over 2 ft of snow this last week and CSea is starting to ski without the harness! Happy holidays!

    1. She’ll be a natural on the waves next time you get south of the border. We miss you guys too. Not many kids around right now. We could use CSea’s big smile and cheeks.
