Sky

Ali hauled me up the mast today so we could officially mark the boat list as done. I had the lazy jack lines all made up but still needed to go up and attach a couple of blocks for them to run through. With that done dousing the main should be a much simpler task.

Hauling me up there is not nearly as easy as it used to be. Ouest is tearing around the decks, Lowe is in his play chair in the cockpit screaming because he can’t see anybody, and the winch we need to use doesn’t have a self-tailer on it. Ali was losing her marbles. But she did it, I survived, and the job is done.

Ouest announced that she also wanted to go up the mast. “Sky!” she repeated ad nauseam until I was finally finished. We then loaded her into the bosun chair and hauled her six feet up. Six feet was not enough for her, she kept telling us she wanted to go to the sky, but all she got for now was the six feet. If she had fit better in the chair I would have taken her higher, but it was unsafe enough as it was. Next time we’ll have her harness ready so we can make her a little more secure, then we’ll see just how high she can handle. My guess is she’d laugh all the way to the top.
