The Grandparents in Loreto

Really just taking it easy this week. No writing, not a lot of pictures, a 15-3 lead in cribbage tournament with Grandpa, and a lot of time in the water with the kids.

It might look like a bus stop, but it is actually the town library.

Yes, that is indeed the wheel of death. Ali’s dad tried to spin me around but I couldn’t hang on. I used duct tape to hold Lowe on.

  1. You all are so very lucky to have grandparents who make a point of regular time with the kids. My dad and step-mom have yet to meet Naia (she is 2 1/2) and Zach only saw them once a year when we had the effort to fly out to Hawaii (which we can’t afford to do anymore paying for 4 tickets. We used to get passes from a friend who no longer works for the airline.) Anyhow, all that babbling to say, grandparents rock and are so very special!

  2. Love Loreto and head there about once a year. Here’s some food recommendations if you want to eat out. Flea market is on Sunday downtown and is the best place to buy food for cooking at home.

    SEAFOOD LUNCH
Vista al Mar – half way between the golf course and Puerto Escondido. Known as the ‘crab shack’ by gringos like me. Closes for the summer. Not sure if it is open now.

    AMERICAN LUNCH
Del Borracho – run by Americans if you are missing a cheeseburger. Near the airport.

    TACO STAND
    El Rey – downtown

    INFORMAL DINNER
La Palapa – downtown. A little touristy, but fun.

    TRADITIONAL DINNER (TAKES TIME)
Fonda Canipole – next to the mission.

    1. We hit El Rey every time through. Awesome and always packed with locals. Always hit the Sunday market too. Ate out a lot this week with the grandparents in town, nothing too spectacular, but nothing too bad either.
