Trophy

We went bowling today. I rolled a 197.

The family was completely unimpressed with my bowling prowess and in the end decided that they deserved trophies and I did not. They took all my quarters, deposited them in vending machines, and walked away with piles of plastic Chinese jewelry as their bowling prizes. I got nothing. That’s fatherhood.

Everybody in Minnesota continues to complain about the weather as if this is the first time they recall having freezing temperatures in the state. You see, Ali and I escaped living here years ago and realized somewhere along the way that there are lots of places to live that aren’t freezing nine months out of the year. Somehow other Minnesotans never come to this conclusion—they just keep shaking their heads in befuddled wonder at the mercury in the thermometer.

  1. That’s why I am in Sarasota, FL not in Missouri where I grew up.
The cabinets look great. For a slacker you are a awful hard worker!

  2. 197 better than I ever bowled. excellent..especially with no recent practice. :)!!!

Where should I send the Blue Ribbon..beer that is…

  3. BUMPERS?!!!
I thought these were Schulte kids?
oh and 197 darn, that might put you on the Mexican national team!

  4. I would say winning that blond girl, and then at least one kid being yours is a pretty good prize run. The only left is the lottery and you will be prized out.

  5. Maybe Minnesotans haven’t figured out a way to escape the cold, but as a FL resident (who left the cold north ten years ago) I assure you MANY people figured out how to get out of the cold……so many in fact that this state is overflowing. I’m very thankful for those who either love living in the cold or those who haven’t figured out how to escape it. We don’t need anymore people down here! 😉

  6. I can fully understand not wanting to lay out $800 for spray-foam insulation….its a big chunk of change. I just wanted to pipe in to say that when we renovated our basement apartment, we gutted it, ripping out the regular batt insulation and laid out $1200 for the spray foam. Honestly, it was the best money we spent on the basement. The difference was INCREDIBLE and worth every penny. I know an RV is a totally different animal, and that’s where my RV knowledge stops, so no advice from me other than to share my own experience with the spray foam. Can’t wait to see the finished pics of your new ride!!

  7. We’ve been bowling a lot too, haha! I mean what else can you do to cheaply burn energy when it’s frigid out? A few more weeks of it and we’re escaping for a short while to see the grandparents. Kids will be happy to be warm and free range again.
