What A Life

Sometimes I go through our pictures from the past few days and all I can think is, “What a life.” I mean, it’s not like it was an epic week, or anything like that, but it was just filled with so many fun moments. Day trips with VW shows and ice cream, surf, tree climbing, surf, friends on bikes, surf, friends on the beach, and more surf. You ever hear a parent talk about how their kid hasn’t had a shower all week? With us, that would be impossible. We have to shower every night before bed, because every body crevice is filled with sand, hair is crisp with salt, and knees are caked with blood. Nothing better than a warm shower, clean sheets, and a worn out body at the end of the day.

Up the road about twenty miles is Rincon de Guayabitos. It’s a Mexican locals beach town, sprinkled with its fair share of gringos, and is a fun place to hang out all on its own. But especially so when the VW show is in town.

The campground cats treat our home like their own, even toying with our hermit crabs.

Speaking of hermit crabs. The other night we heard them up clicking and clanking around all night long. In the morning we found that Hermie had switched shells (we keep an empty bigger one in their house for them). Yay! That’s exciting stuff when it comes to owning hermit crabs. But that morning, while Ali and the kids watched, she climbed back out of the new one, and back into her old one. Right there in front of them in broad daylight (they are nocturnal creatures). Now, that’s true excitement.

Each night, after getting ready for bed, they work on their comics, and pop-up books. Then we read them before their normal books. Hilarity ensues, as the cartoon almost always ends with some sort of poop related incident.

  1. What an awesome life indeed!
    I think you’ve found a home.
Who are the other kids? Nomads as well? Are they semi-permanent there?
    Happy Spring, Bums!!

  2. Started following you guys in 2004 and have been along for the ride ever since. Printed your anchorages and took them with us on our boat as we cruised from Asia to Europe from 2007 to 2015. Sadly we’re back on land now but miss the adventure. Would love to follow in your footsteps once again and buy an RV.

  3. We tried to sell our bug it when we downsized to go sailing and couldn’t get a decent price for it. So, we kept it. Now. I’m glad we did. Looking at the pictures makes me wonder how our bug is faring while we are out traveling the world. We have an old VW. It’s an orange 1973 Super Beetle Convertible. It is in storage in the USA. Such a fun car to drive.

  4. Life, kids, and bochitos. The photos are fantastic. I asked a friend once, “how is life”, and he answered: Life is so good it scares me. I can identify with that. What is it with the poop thing, just say something like “popo music”, and they go into hilaric convulsions. 🙂

  5. Awesome picture guys. It’s been so fun hanging out! Arjuna and Lux love you guys and the kids. Lots of yoga love from the Nomad Yoga Family
