Always Water

I wouldn’t say “provisioning” has started in earnest, but multiple boxes and cans of the same thing have been coming home from the store pretty regularly these days.

St. Augustine has turned out to be a pretty cool place to have a boat with kids. We’ve got the marina right on the river for daily calm water dinghy adventures, and we’ve got the ocean just one minute away for bigger water fun. Also have some cool beaches up and down the coast just a short drive away.

We’ve gotten our fill of dead sea turtles lately.

  1. Pat.

I get bombarded with Bit Coin stuff, mostly it sounds like B/S. You are the first person I trust that has spoken of them, can you tell me more about them.

  2. Hey Muzza,

Not in Bumfuzzle comments, I can’t. 🙂 My groups have been discussing Cryptocurrency almost every week in the newsletter, and pretty much daily in the chat since back in May. It’s a small portion of what we talk about, but we’ve been saying all along that it’s not something that should be ignored, and everyone should at least be educating themselves in it, if not actively investing. I won’t comment here (Bumfuzzle) on what should be done about it at this point, though.

  3. Pat,

I remember when you guys were traveling around last summer, you mentioned that being on east coast time was more difficult for you bc market hours took up most of your day. Being in earlier time zones allowed you to finish up work and still have a good part of the afternoon left to spend with the family. Will this still be the case as you head south to the islands, or have you found some way of coping with the problem?

I know, for myself, being on the other side of the Atlantic allows me to get a lot done in the mornings and early afternoons. I don’t have to start looking at the market until around 2 pm, then it’s all over by 9:30, which is still relatively early. I know you and Ali did Europe in the VW camper. Any chance you’ll come over and do the Med in a boat with the kids? Some parts of Portugal, Spain and Italy are a lot cheaper than the rest of Western Europe. Or even coastal cruising the North African coast? I can tell you that some parts of Morocco are fabulous…tho the water is, of course, freezing, lol.

Anyway, can’t wait to start reading about the new adventures once you guys get going. Sounds like it’s getting close now.

    1. No, there’s no great solution for us when it comes to time zones and work. We do find that dealing with east coast time is a lot easier for us when we’ve got a home that we can all find a space in to work and play. Being on the east coast in the 22′ Airstream created some challenges, like forcing me out into the Travelall to work. Not the best setup. We can make any situation work, but some are clearly better than others. So far, all is well on the boat. No European plans now. We were getting close when the dollar went to $1.03 against the Euro. If it had gone to .90 we might have made the leap. So keep an eye on that exchange rate. 🙂

  4. I have followed you guys for years. I grew up in this part of Florida and have loved seeing all of your pictures. It brings back lots of great memories. I usually know where you are before I have to read the captions. Looking forward to this next adventure.

p.s. It broke my heart to see a hotel being built behind Breakers in New Smyrna Beach. It’s sad seeing this sleepy beach town being commercialized.
