San Juan Summertime

Summer days are quickly melting away. It’s hot in Puerto Rico, but not unbearably so. Nothing a water fight on the dock can’t solve. Afternoons walking around Old Town are enjoyable even if there isn’t much to do. Slowly wandering and hanging out together is pretty much the name of the game. I feel like there should be more to talk about, but there’s not, and that’s okay. We’re in a new place, enjoying our time together, with plenty of projects to keep us busy. That’s enough for now.

  1. Patrick – Can’t believe how deserted it is. But still pretty. And so are your (our) GB floors!
Thank you for writing and describing your weird year as it unfolds. We so much enjoy your posts.

    1. Thanks, George. All good. Keeping an eye on things – and I must mention we aren’t nearly the highest priced yacht in this marina. We are small stuff. If they get moving, we will too. They are in the know, and friendly!

  2. Love all the beautiful colors of the buildings. Minnesota has gotten so boring. All the houses are cookie cutters with beige or grey siding. And the pride shown in the upkeep of homes, streets and public places. Everything so clean even in the poorer areas. Stay safe from the pandemic and hurricanes.

    1. It is what we love most about getting out of MN and the States – color, and beauty everywhere. Now that they do neighborhoods with a model home with very few choices in the development. Ugh. You guys, stay healthy, and we hope to see you during our next visit “home”.

  3. Years ago Ali took the best photo ever taken – your kids looking through the back of the Travco, looking out onto a desert highway. There’s no point to any photos after that one, and cameras don’t really need to be made anymore. There’s no use. There won’t ever be a better photo taken 🙂

I just remembered that photo for some reason while cruising youtube, and looked up you up again. Not that difficult, it turns out – shulte travco – google even correcting the spelling of your name for me.

    Cheers 🙂

    1. How did we live before Google? 🙂
And don’t bring up the Travco! Pat still loves that bus and actually brings it up often. We even had the chance to buy her back, and we were considering it. And I remember that photo awesome shot. We love deserted roads.

      1. Well, I don’t know your blogging/photo/request policy – everyone has one, right? – but perhaps you could repost it? It worked on so many levels. Not sure what triggered my memory. Maybe nostalgia for the road we left behind, in this strange new world of the past few years.

  4. I will be in Arecibo…Weeks Marine Dredging! Not sure what VHF channel? However, if you are in the area stop in and say hello! I will be running a crewboat “Bayou Teche”! Daylight hours for me. Would like to meet the “family” that is living life well, creating memories and giving those younguns’ an education and global awareness far beyond the capabilities of a schoolhouse! Go get’m tiger(s)!

hope the storm didnt create too much havoc? I will be flying around it come Fri. a.m….yikes!

  5. I can’t decide whether I like the waterboarding pic more than the one with the masked scooter bandits. Stay healthy, bums.

  6. Ohhhhh Home Sweet Home! Beautiful pictures, as always, but from a place dear and near to my heart. I see you hit the Medallas!! 🙂

  7. If your at san Juan say hi to Malcome on the fishing boat that never leaves. Also bill butler will be down for a walk most nights. 66 day’s afloat in a lift raft. He has some stories !

    1. Yes, will have to look for Bill Butler. Haven’t seen the fishing boat. As the marinas are closed for COVID it feels like we are the only people around.

    1. Luckily where we are we haven’t seen a single stray dog (100s of cats though)! Once we get out of the cities, we have seen a few at the beaches. With COVID anything can happen. 😉

  8. This is likely going to seem like such a random comment, but Ouest has such a beautiful smile. As one whose parents forced me into “railroad tracks” on my teeth 50 years ago, it’s been a gift for which I am grateful ever since. You made sacrifices to give her that smile, and I know she too will be grateful for years to come.

    1. We totally agree, Suzanne, and Ouest had some work to be done with all her baby teeth incidences. Yup we have had some crazy traveling over the years for appointments.
