This is kind of random, but I just loaded pictures off of Lowe’s camera. Here’s what he saw this month.

Therefore we find ourselves with a pretty busy social calendar. Add in the fact that there are a couple of fun little girls here in the campground, and baby turtles being released every night, and we have a recipe for too many late nights in a row.

It took four kids to build this contraption, also known as a Christmas Tree. We are slightly unconventional when it comes to holidays. The kids were convinced when building this that it would be there for the next two months.

In case anybody else is wondering, this is how princesses carry their books.

Nov09-1We were able to repurpose some of the Christmas tree wood and build these instead. Because building things is really nothing more than sticking wood together randomly with screws.

Nov09-2 Nov09-3 Nov09-4 Nov09-5 Nov10-1 Nov10-2It’s high season here in turtle country. Volunteers spend a couple of months during nesting season scouring the beaches at night for signs of turtle nests. They dig up the eggs and bring them here where they hatch exactly 45 days later. For a few weeks here we get to see a lot of baby turtles get sent off to battle for their terrible chance at survival. A chance which they at least were given thanks to this place. A lot of eggs still get swiped by poachers and sold as aphrodisiacs.

  1. Hey Ali and Patrick. Glad your back down where you belong. I have to go norte manana. šŸ™ Family stuff. Speaking of turtles I got see a local conservation group release turtles the other night while I was at the beach. Bueno. Good stuff. I hope we can talk at some point. When I found your blog I found Kindred soles. Moved Sur last month and have made it work with some good advice from both you. Bought “Living ” and my numbers aren’t bad. Not quitting my day job yet. Started a blog so I can connect once with everyone instead of twenty emails. Good advise. You have my email and I hope to hear from you. Maybe my wife and I can road trip the jeep on the ferry and buy you a beer in one of our adventures. Check out “Where’s Wally ” on Facebook. Just threw it out there last week. Be kind, I just started.

  2. Hi Patrickand family. I love your posts, have been following since the Radical Personal Finance interview. Working through Living on theMatgin. We plan to be in Tecoman near Christmas. Any chance you will be in the area?

  3. Thought of the “Bums” when I saw this great quote…..

And today the great Yertle, that Marvelous he,
Is King of the Mud. That is all he can see.
And the turtles, of courseā€¦ all the turtles are free
As turtles and, maybe, all creatures should be.
