This is a kids’ life

Down here, I love how much our kids get to be kids. They’re free to roam, they can walk over to a friend’s house/bungalow/tent/rv and yell out for them. They can hang out on the beach together. They can get soccer games going. Whatever. It all just feels very old school to me.

Nov15-1Our bus has become a hub in the afternoon. We’ve got the most toys. Legos? Check. Play-Doh? Check. Race tracks, doll houses, dress up clothes? Check, check, and check.

Nov15-2All the folks from Guadalajara area come down to the beach whenever there is a three-day holiday weekend. Such a good vibe even when the beach gets packed down here. Everyone is chill, just drinking, eating, and having a good time.

  1. What a wonderful way to grow up!
Hard to imagine that the minimalists living in an antique RV have the most entertaining collections of play things… Just a great, great post.

  2. My neighborhood, although stationary, is the same way. LOVE old school. Kids come by all the time and ask to play with my kids, and at any given time the backyard is filled with several, including a couple I may not know. So good for the kids, in my opinion. Wish we were right on the beach instead of a couple blocks away. Glad they’re having an awesome time.

  3. Just curious – you never mention in your writings about taking time for schooling of your kids. How do you and Ali plan to do that?

    1. Never mention school? Just in the pictures from this post you can see the kids played soccer in gym class, they learned about sea turtles, they built models in art class, and they hung out with their friends during recess on the beach.
